Art as sustenance, because mere survival is insufficient...That's why, no matter how much I feel like being a homebody or what chores are left undone, I make myself go out to the galleries every Thursday night. I was lucky enough to see the Elliot Greenwald show in person (my favorite was peering into the tiny library shed structure with the paper towel wrapped books). Is art *creation* also a form of sustenance...or perhaps another phase in spiritual digestion? A sort of metabolism?
I love that you have a weekly art outing! I used to do that too when I lived in NY (I’m guessing that’s where you are?) - also art openings/ galleries are free so even as a broke college student, I could still enjoy to fill my cup with creativity. I loved that Elliot Greenwald show and so glad to discover his work… I was so tempted to open up the books in the tiny library 📚 😉 And I think art is sustenance both for the maker and the audience. I’m currently researching the effects of art on mind & body so I’m sure I’ll be writing more about this at some point… stay tuned.
Can you tell me more about keeping track of the colors/movements you see during your week?? I can’t make it to meditation but I am so glad you’re doing it!
Staring at the Elliot Greenwald, wow 😌
So mesmerizing, right! The whole show was fantastic.
Glorious!
Jolene! In person, it was even more magnificent!
❤️
most people don't think about poetry until they're father dies.
so true. thank you for sharing this with us ❤️
That particular line really struck me too… it’s in the deepest life moments that art seems to shine most ✨

Haha, I admit the numbers are a loose approximation: art math! 😆 and no worries on the meditation 🧘🏽♀️ you’ll be there in spirit 🪷
I truly would not have been surprised if you told me you had a method!!
