Sometimes, I forget that we share a cosmic connection.
Writing can feel like a lonely endeavor, a one way relationship. Ideas live in my head for days, weeks or even months. Then they are released into my notebook, my laptop, and finally get delivered in the form of an email.
But in order for my words to make their way to you, they must take a long journey. Beyond our planetary realm, they are space-bound. They travel into the ether, making a satellite pit stop, before darting back down to earth, landing in your inbox.
For a split moment, my words float into the endless dark cosmos. Each letter mingles with the stars. As digital communicators, we’re all golden voyagers, leaving a trail of cosmic dust behind.
When I remind myself of this process, I can marvel at the wonders of the internet. Or else it’s too easy to fall into its pitfalls. As the Jungian analyst James Hollis states in a ‘Pulling the Thread’ podcast episode with
: every technology has its shadow side. When it comes to cyber space, I think we’re all familiar with those dark corners. So it becomes easy to forget the light that hovers above, the sparkling filaments that bind us together.
But last week, you reminded me of that. I was so inspired to read the comments and emails you sent with your sensory suggestions. Not only did I discover new books, films, and recipes, but I also learned about you.
I saw the paintings you’re making, the trails you take your dog on, the gifts you craft for your friends. Every edition of Seven Senses is an invitation into my world, but last week it felt like you opened the door to yours. Thank you for welcoming me in and sharing your sensory delights.
Below you’ll find a compilation of some of your recommendations, with something to SEE, HEAR, SMELL, TASTE, TOUCH, BALANCE, and ENVISION.
In Joy,
Sabrina
PS: there will be no Present Sense next weekend as I’ll be publishing the Full Moon edition on Wednesday.

The Alphabet versus the Goddess | Book by Leonard Shlain

:“Shlain makes a compelling case that the introduction of alphabet languages and the process of reading itself, has unleashed dominant left brain qualities (linear thinking, masculine values) at the expense of right brain ones that promote wholistic and feminine approaches.”

thanks for including my recommendation! "Fiji" also wins the award for worst cover art - such a random find, but the song is cool!
Thanks Sabrina! Every week YOU are our reminder that the cosmic and sublime are all around us if we just pay the right attention.
